Vinyl Record Memories. The Easy Way Around.

We have redesigned our site to make browsing vinyl record memories so much easier. You're gonna love this new, simple way to navigate our site.

The Navigation Bar: A list of all major categories at the top of every page (Doo Wop, Cover Songs, Golden Oldies, etc) will remain visible as you scroll down each page. This is our biggest update, as you never lose sight of the listed categories. Hover over a category, and a drop-down menu will appear for you to select from.

Easy To Locate Additional Pages: Near the bottom of each page, after the page content or videos, will be a listing of additional links you can choose from. As an example, click on the "Golden Oldies" page on the top navigation bar, and you will find a listing, one of which is titled "Oldies" with around 50 additional links to choose from at the end of the article on that page. All Navigation headings have a drop down menu that work in the same manner. So much easier to find pages

A Simple Return Home Feature: Hover over and click the Vinyl Record Memories logo at the very top of the site, and it will turn Dark Maroon and send you back to the Home Page from anywhere on the site. In addition, a "Return Home" link is located at the bottom of each page. Enjoy your visit.

Do You Collect Vinyl Records?

Do you collect vinyl records or vinyl record art? Some of us purchase and enjoy the vinyl cover artwork more than the record itself. Vinyl records continue to captivate music lovers with their timeless charm and the stories they hold.

When writing about music, especially music that was recorded before you were born, you only have the luxury of listening as an outsider. It is the Album Cover Artwork that will be a constant reminder of how good the music inside really is. Our framed album cover art for this month is an album I have maintained in my collection since new.

Framed Album Cover Art of The Month.

The Eagles' LP titled, "Their Greatest Hits (1971–1975)" is a compilation album released on February 17, 1976, featuring popular songs from their first four albums. The cover of the album is an image of a piece of art created by artist Boyd Elder. The piece consists of a painted plastic cast of an eagle skull against a light-blue background made of silver mylar. The artist was paid $5,000 for his work on the cover. This album was purchased new nearly 50 years ago. The LP album remains in near perfect condition as it shows no signs of wear on any part of the cover or the record inside.

The album has the distinction of being the first to receive the RIAA's platinum certification, which was introduced in 1976 to recognize albums that ship one million copies in the United States, and has sold over 38 million copies in the U.S.

A Country Twist To A Doo Wop Classic From 1955.

The cover to the song, "Only You," (And You Alone) by Travis Tritt is a romantic ballad about the power of love,  and gives this country version a special meaning more than forty years after its initial release.

This version of the song was released off his 1995 album titled, Greatest Hits: From The Beginning, and includes other hits from Tritt's earlier works and features this great cover of "Only You."

Enjoy this fictional story I have written based on this wonderful old classic from 1955, and brought to life with the original song lyrics..."Only you can make this world seem right, Only you can make the darkness bright, Only you and you alone can thrill me like you do, And fill my heart with love for only you." True Love Ways - A Love Song

It's impossible to overstate the influence Buddy Holly had on rock n' roll. After nearly seventy years, the song "True Love Ways" once again sets memories in motion, recalling the year 1958 and those beautiful Buddy Holly lyrics.

Two of his most haunting beautiful ballads are True Love Ways and Raining in My Heart. Holly's "True Love Ways" you hear on this page will bring a tear to your eye and the dreamy saxophone accompaniment is absolutely perfect.

Buddy Holly True Love Ways 2

This beautiful song was written by Buddy Holly (though also credited to Norman Petty) and recorded with the  Dick Jacobs Orchestra on October 21, 1958, in the presence of Buddy's wife, Maria Elena Holly.

The song was recorded at the Pythian Temple Studio in New York City.

But you have to appreciate the impact of this great song and the love that inspired it.

Five hours after they met, Buddy Holly proposed to Maria Elena Santiago at PJ Clarke's in New York on June 20, 1958 at Table 53 and soon thereafter wrote "True Love Ways" for her as a wedding gift.

It was not released until March 1960, after Buddy Holly's tragic death, when it was included on the album, The Buddy Holly Story, Vol. 2, on the Coral label. Enjoy this wonderful old love song that is as beautiful today as it was when it was released more than 65 years ago. Read the rest of this remarkable story here.
