Twinkle Twinkle Lucky Star Lyrics

Merle Haggard Vinyl Record Memories

Merle Performs #1 song, Twinkle Twinkle Lucky Star at Church Street Station in Florida in 1996.

The Twinkle Twinkle Lucky Star Lyrics was written by Merle Haggard with Freddie Powers.

It was the first song released off the album "Chill Factor" and quickly became a #1 song.

The song would spend fifteen weeks on the country charts and would be the last of his thirty four number one singles as a solo artist.

This live performance was in 1996 at Church Street Station in Orlando, Florida. It's a great tune and a typical Merle Haggard sold out live performance.

As you watch the video understand why some believe Merle is one of the chosen few great voices in country music. Powers must have helped write this line for Merle.

"Can you really make a wish come true?  Do you shine on just a chosen few?"

Twinkle Twinkle Lucky Star Lyrics
Did The Good Lord Favor Merle?

When the good Lord was passing out true country voices did he grab Merle and place him at the front of the line?

I believe Merle Haggard is one of the most influential singer-songwriters in country music history and may be the most well-rounded country talent to ever take the stage.  He sings in bars, Honky-tonks and in sold out concerts with a full orchestra behind him.

Enjoy this live performance and please take time to listen to all of Merle's other songs on this site.

Twinkle Twinkle Lucky Star Lyrics
Written by Merle Haggard with Freddie Powers
#1 song recorded in 1987

Twinkle, twinkle lucky star
Can you send me luck from where you are
Can you make a rainbow shine that far
Twinkle, twinkle lucky star

Can you really make a wish come true
Do you shine on just a chosen few
Is it over? Have I gone to far
Twinkle, twinkle lucky star

Like two ships on the ocean, we drifted apart
And you found an island at sea..
Now I'm still driftin' with this pain in my heart
Won't you send her sweet love back to me?

Twinkle, twinkle lucky star
Can you send me luck from where you are
Can you make a rainbow shine that far
Twinkle, twinkle lucky star.

Like two ships on the ocean, we drifted apart
And you found an island at sea
Now I'm still driftin' with this pain in my heart
Won't you send her sweet love back to me

Twinkle, twinkle lucky star
Can you send me luck from where you are
Can you make a rainbow shine that far
Twinkle, twinkle lucky star

This song brings back those special vinyl record memories of the summer of '79 when I spent many nights alone with Dolly and she whispered in my ear.

You're the only one...
You're the only one...
